It is clear that in a world with different religions people want to understand each other. Through the age of time two religions with very similar message spread widely around the globus: Christianity and Islam. When I first started to debate with these two religions I recognized a deep lack of understanding from the debaters. I saw that they only followed one goal: to defeat their oppponent. And with the time I figured out that almost everyone hated each other. Why are these people hating each other? What goal should be aimed when debating?
Firstly, we live in a world full of wars and hatred. If you ask anybody outside your house
'do you want peace on this world?' he/she will answer 'yes' (I hope). Then I say; lets start
working for peace.
Do you wonder why there are wars? Very simple - just follow a religious debate to
understand it. I began to follow debates on the social platform Facebook. In case of the
two religions Christianity and Islam I saw that both parties were trying to convince each
other that their religion is the only truth and 'more' peacful than the other religion. They
were posting newspaper articles about murders, rapes, and other dreadful messages
which had absolutely nothing to do with the topic they were discussing. Besides, they
were cursing the God and the Apostles of the opposite side. I asked them what goal
they were aiming by posting such insulting messages, but they never came close to
answer my questions. It was obvious that they were only trying to abuse and curse each
other.
How can the world have a peaceful future when people are hating each other?
It is important to use scientific facts and rational ideas to give an opinion about a topic.
There might be people who provocate you, but you should stay cool and avoid them,
because you know that discussing with them leads to nothing.
The first thing you have to ask yourself before debating is: 'What am I debating for?
What is my goal?' If you can't find any answers to these questions you should stay out of
any conversation until you find a reason to debate. The majority of the religious people
want to convert their opponents into their own religion. At the beginning it is going well,
but as soon as he encounters respondense against his religion - peace time is over.
Our ego is trying to identify itself with any possible concept or belief system in order to
survive. One of the most important things you should have in your mind is the believe
that you are not your religion. When you are identified with any concept, your opponent
will notice it and try to avoid you and your message. If you really want to convince your
opponent, you have to learn how to control your ego. The ego of two people is
comparable with a magnet: Plus and plus pushes both sides away, unlike plus and
minus which pull towards each other. If you encounter the ego of your opponent, you
should try to avoid your own ego and answer with your heart. Don't be afraid of losing;
believe me, you will win your debate for sure.
According to Muslims Prophet Mohammed was preaching Love and Peace. And at the
same time Jesus was preaching Love and Peace according to the Christians. Both
sides are trying to help their religions but they even can't help themselves.
According to the Bible Jesus said:
'But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you' (Matt, 5:44),
And According to the Quran Allah said:
'Nor can goodness and Evil be equal. Repel (Evil) with what is better: Then will he
between whom and thee was hatred become as it were thy friend and intimate!' (41:34)
If both, Muslims and Christians would have lived their religions well, there would be no
hatred between them. Instead of becoming angry to other people, get angry to yourself
and ask: 'Why am I opposing my religion?' If you can't even help yourself, how do you
want to manage helping others?
It's necessary to have knowledge about the topic you are speaking or writing. I recently
saw postings like 'Jesus is God' or 'God is One'. It is okay to express your believings,
but are you absolutely sure this will have a positive effect on your opponent? Are you
trying to make him crazy? Did Mohammed and Jesus wanted to make their opponents
crazy? Please don't blame me, I just want you to think about these topics.
Debating is based on 'Respect'. As soon as you break this rule all your words have
absolutely no effect on your opponents. It may be better for you to jump from a mountain
than disrespecting another human. Today I heard a preacher saying: 'Satan is created
by fire, as soon as you get angry, your face turns into red like the colour of the fire.' You
may think you are loved by God and the Angels if you debate and defeat your opponents
by hatred, but in reality you are only serving Satan. Bring light into darkness, because
darkness can only be finalized by light.
My advice to the Muslims is that they never should try to convince the Non-Muslims
about Islam. Your primarily mission is to explain them the Message of Islam, not to
convince them. Because according to the Quran, only Allah is the one who turns the
Hearts towards the Truth. Don't identify yourself with Islam, or you will never get to inspire
people you are talking to. Why are you getting mad if someone insults your Religion?
They don't reject you, but it is Allah whom they are rejecting.
Allah says in the Quran:
'We know that you, [O Muhammad], are saddened by what they say. And indeed, they do
not call you untruthful, but it is the verses of Allah that the wrongdoers reject.' (6:33)
